Ács, Péter birthday : 1981.05.10 Hungary g 2544
International Master: 1997
Grandmaster: 1998
Ács Péter has started his chess carreer when he was a very young child. However he became suddenly succesful when he won the European championship U12 in Rimasombat. After this tournament Peter played in a lot of youngs tournaments, (world championships, European championships) In these years his development was weaker. The great breaktrough in his chess carreer was his first GM norm in 1998. In this year, thanks to his new trainer Peter's style became more agressive. After the first GM norm, Peter has quickly performed the others, and in 1998 he managed to get the GM title. (He was not IM !!) He did the best of his teenage years at the World Junior Championship in Athens where Peter finished first place with an amazing performance! Thanks to this result, next year Peter got the right to play in Hoogoven. In this tournament he also made a good finish. (He won against Polgar, Van Wely and And Halifman, too). He has been a member of the Hungarian team since 2000. Péter currently studies at two high schools in Budapest, but it seems, as nothing will stop him from trying to win this tournament as title holder last year's.
