Vachier-Lagrave, Maxime birthday : 1990.10.21 France g 2681French Champion
Maxime Vachier-Lagrave the youngest participant of our tournament, was born in 1990. He is one of the youngest chess grandmasters in history. He completed his final grandmaster (GM) norm at the age of 14 years, 4 months, in 2005.
In World Youth Championships Maxime won one silver and three bronze medals, it shows that he is a successful player in his age group.
Two years after he obtained the 3rd place in the French Chess Championship Maxime won this competition with a score of 7.5/11 in the round robin and defeated Vladislav Tkachiev in a tiebreak match.
Last year, he played at the Corus tournament B, Wijk aan Zee. After having been on the top of the table in the middle of the tournament, with notably 5 wins in a row, Maxime had to suffer a difficult end. Nevertheless, he still finished 5th of the tournament (shared 2nd place) with 8 points out of 13.
This year in Moscow Maxime played the Aeroflot tournament A1 and finished at the 18th place.
Currently he studies Mathematics and Computer Sciences.
His rating on January 2007 was 2573, making him the 9th best player in the country and the 17th boy under 20.
